Another convincing win for the u13s in their first home league match, v Wimbledon. Thanks again to coach, Prince for his coaching and umpiring and to parents and players for helping set up the pitch. After winning the toss Fred put them into bat. The team once again bowled really well, restricting them to 78 off 15.2 overs. Fred & Anthony bowled pretty well for first 4 overs but couldn't get a wicket. One of their openers went to to score 31 not out, retired. Al came into the attack and was the pick of the bowlers - taking 4 wickets, 2 in one over, for 19 runs and 1 wide. Percy and Ollie bowled 1 with Ollie picking up a wicket, William bowled 2 tight overs, Joe bowled 3 - picking up 2 wickets for just 12 runs, then in Patrick's over Quentin took a smart catch to finish the innings. Quentin also threw very accurately to Billy at keeper for a smart run out. Extras were 12; 5 wides, 1 no ball and just 6 byes - down from 19 byes in the first match - showing how well Billy kept wicket. The batsmen chased down the target of 79 in just 12.1 overs. Joe and Oz opened and started well, Oz got out to a good ball whilst Joe went on to make 31 from 33 balls, retired, not out, setting up a great platform. Ollie contributed an important 16 before being called LBW, Anthony got a good ball too, then Fred and William tidied up and were not out hitting the target in 13th over. 79/3. So once again it was a short match and a few didn't bat but we expect tougher matches later in the season. Great start though, 2 from 2.
