RCC 2s 169 for 9 in 40 overs. Nomads CC 170 for 4. Nomads won by 6 wickets.

A good run out for the 2s gave everyone a bat and 8 players in the team a bowl before the first League game next Saturday. Great early season knocks from Stu Turner (58) and Jono Robinson (54) showed everyone how to bat on the slowest of slow pitches; play patiently, defend the straight ball, try not to drive in the air and do your best to hit the ball that is off-line. As the sun came out, the pitch improved markedly and became easier to bat on. 169 was a decent target for the Nomads to chase down.

A tight new ball spell from Zak Khan (1 for 15) coming down from the Telegraph end got RCC into a good position. The Nomads were struggling on 110 for 4 and RCC sniffed a chance of a win. Unfortunately, towards the tail end of the innings RCC were unable to bowl line and length, delivering too many 4 balls to the opposition. In the final analysis, Nomads reached their target with 2 overs remaining - a fair result considering winning wasn’t the be all and end all on in this pre-season friendly.

Very good debuts for the club from Nick Aspinall, Mohsin Saleem and Rowen Grierson all point to promising progress. Along with Tom Parker, Yasir Ahmed, Zak Khan and Stu Turner there is much to look forward to this year in the 2s.
