RCC 2s managed to see off a good Horley team in a tight contest.
Electing to bat first again, RCC managed to put 218 on the board in their 45 overs. The mainstays of the RCC innings were solid knocks from Marc Moderegger (38), Andy MacLeod (19), Arron Pratt (18), Freddie Woodhead (11) and Yasir Ahmad (13). The two star performers though were Stephen 'the SAK' Kent (45), who played some elegant, authentic cricket shots and Umer Munir (53), who momentarily put down his sledgehammer to strike a number of mighty fours and sixes in the general direction of cow.
218 seemed a good total but Horley batted well to come close to reaching the target. Great bowling from Zak Khan (3 for 17) and Yasir Ahmad (4 for 27) took crucial wickets at key times. Zak Khan in particular, bowled some unplayable deliveries and is now reaching top form. Special mention needs to made for Nick Aspinall's keeping, including three important catches behind the stumps.
The 2s are playing the limited over format well. We shall see how they adapt to the timed games next week where batting first is not really an option.
Man of the match: Umer Munir.
