RCC 2s beat Mitcham 2s.

Nick Freeborn (101) drove the 2s to victory against a spirited Mitcham team with a well-judged and superbly crafted innings. Put into bat on a true RCC wicket the 2s posted a season's best of 235 for 7 in 45 overs.

The team got off to a good start with an opening partnership of 63 between Freeborn and Dave Allen (30) before a sparkling middle order effort from Yasir Ahmad (38) and Mohsin Saleem (41*) helped RCC reach what seemed like a formidable total.

A good fightback from Mitcham took them to within just 5 runs of the RCC total before wickets from Umer Munir (3 for 28) and Hemish Gunasekara (3 for 33) just about managed to hold Mitcham in check. It finally took two excellent catches from Arron Pratt to dismiss the dangerous Mitcham batters and get RCC home by the skin of their teeth.

The day's work should have been a lot easier if RCC had not spilled at least 5 chances whilst fielding - We all know what to focus on at training on Wednesday. (See you all there 6-8pm.)

Nothing though, can take away from the excellent century which deserved to bring the 20 points home to Roehampton. Come on the Deers!
