SAK claims his first win!

The iron grip of Sacha Hatteea finally cracked and crumbled last poker night and the (imaginary) RCC Poker trophy ripped from his grasp. Eventual winner SAK finally ended a drought spanning two long, cruel winters to claim his first poker win.

It was a slow but steady game for SAK, getting in the big wins at critical times to hang on against a table packed with skilled players. In the mix was serial winner Sacha Hatteea who had scooped the last two poker nights, his mate Olly, 'Bumper' Farrell and Graeme Towler who have both always placed strongly and the tag-team family threat of the Patels - Pukar and Vijay.

The poker was intense, yet played with a spirit that cricket would be proud of. Through attrition and dumb luck SAK managed to hang in there and sneak under the radar: despite flirting with bankruptcy, some big wins at critical times saw a recovery and eventually the development of a chip lead. This was helped by Sacha crashing out uncharacteristically early, 'Bumps' being squeezed into fourth place and Vijay taking third.

And so it came down to two: SAK and Pukar Patel (who, when he gets married this year, will be known as Mr Pukar Patel-Patel). Pukar, normally one to approach poker with extreme bravado and great bluff, dug in for the long haul. Sadly for him he lacked the chips with which to play his natural game and eventually, inevitably by now, fell at the final hurdle.

All in all, a great night out, a fun atmosphere and undoubtedly to return by popular demand.

So on Saturday the 28th of March we will be having our 6th Poker Tournament of the Off Season.
