Our game against Prince Consort started on time at 1pm and in true Sunday style by deciding which team had enough players to take the field. It was decided that our nine men stood a better chance in the field than their seven.
Having taken three early wickets, we wasted numerous chances by dropping catch after catch. Debutants Bram Jungnitz and Ekaan Shaikh both took pace off the ball which proved difficult on a slow track. Hugh Gerlach bowled a great spell of off cutters, swingers with the occasional leg spinner thrown in. Fahad Hasan was consistent, giving nothing away. With a team sheet blessed with two keepers, Mark Boag took the gloves and Stuart Allen agreed to be our fifth bowler - reminding us of his 5 wicket haul - all caught at long on - from last year.
Following two middle order 50's and 35 overs in the field, we had a target of 162 runs to chase.
Our opening partnership of Harry Farley and Stuart Allen looked like they were going to win the game by 10 wickets, until they both perished having past 50. Josh Bloom, Ejaz Rana and Rich Else fell in quick succession but we were always ahead of the run rate allowing me to knock the runs off in the 31st over.
