The day after Ed Stephenson's leaving do proved eventful in many ways. The first person to arrive at the clubhouse was the Guilford umpire who was welcomed to a newly burgled clubhouse. Guildford are a very keen outfit and appeared not only with an umpire, umpteen coaches physios etc, and a scorer.
Having won the toss the Cavaliers decided to bat on what looked like a good track. The opening bowlers were nothing special for Guildford but unfortunately The Cavaliers did not bat well and wickets fell at regular intervals. The only decent effort at the top of the order was Sacha who made a very positive 29. In fact he could probably have been trying to hit three balls after his day at the Oval and Ed's party.
The innings looked like collapsing until Steven Kent came to the crease. I did not witness Saks great innings (I was speaking to the old bill about the break-in) but having returned from yet another month expedition to this time Romania, Stephen was in full flow with the bat and reached what I believe to be his highest score for RCC of 29.The Cavaliers landed up with a total of 118.
After further incident, this time in the car park when three cars were broken into, the colts from Guidford set about their task. With such a low total it was hard to contain the opposition and although Pukar picked up two wickets, Guildford managed to reach the target with plenty of overs remaining.
Man of the Match; Stephen Kent
