Cavaliers beaten by One Man Team.

Another spell of good weather at the beginning of Sept was a great setting for another Cavaliers encounter.Having won the toss the Cavaliers decided to bowl as the team sheet was packed with bowlers. With the absence of our very regular wicket keeper,Mark Boag, our star of Stage and Screen Alex Bushill kindly offered his services.

Things began well for the Cavaliers restricting Brasted Invicta to a very slow run rate. The bowling of Saqib Abbassi and Pukar Patel was very tight, but the first wicket came from the bowling of Mahmud. This wicket provided the highlight of the day's play.Andy Lelean the ever present supporter, helper, and Dad of Toby was recruited at the last minute to play.perhaps he was hoping that a vital catch would not come his way but sodds law prevailing it did.The looped up miss hit seemed to take an eternity to reach the outstretched hands of Andy.He clasped at the ball and to no one's surprise took a great catch. This was never in doubt but the truly ecstatic celebrations suggest others may have thought otherwise.

Returning to the match,Brasted after a very slow start, the Cavaliers seemed ontop. At 53 for 2 things were going well. Then on came their number 4 batsmen Wilson who stuck a very good 93.He was dropped but this meant that that Brasted landed up declaring on 200 for 6.Cavaliers used 7 bowlers who shared the wickets out fairly evenly.

After tea,in reply,Keld the Golden Helmeted warrior of the Norsemen fame opened the batting. In fact he made a great debut for the club (not just the helmet)and scored a brisk 25.In fact at this point the Cavaliers were up with the run rate.Sadly some poor shot selection and some fine bowling by Wilson(he took the first 4 wickets)meant that from a winning position the Cavaliers would now have to hang on for a draw. This was not to be and unfortunately wickets fell consistently. The only moment of joy was once again provided by Monsieur Lelean.Holing out for a draw was way too boring and he hit a splendid cover drive for four.that I'm afraid was the highlight of the Cavaliers batting.
