At last summer seemed to have arrived and on a very hot afternoon Cavaliers ,who unfortunately lost the toss were made to field.
After the first early wicket taken by newcomer Mahmud Paracha,it was a long wait for the next wicket which fell with Worcester Park on 79.The support bowling by Toby Lelean,Mahmud Paracha,Charlie Steel, and Simon Stokes, was good but the Worcester Park batsmen were well in and difficult to remove.Iqbal Jan made 130 and Yasser Khan 44.Worcester Park finished on 237 for 5 declared, after 37 overs. For the Cavaliers both newcomers bowled particularly well with Mahmud Paracha having figures of 14 overs,4 wickets, for 90 runs.Charlie Steel's figures were 9 overs,no wickets for 40 runs.
In reply the Cavaliers had a good start with an opening partnership of 44.
Unfortunately the steady loss of wickets meant the target became more unachievable. The game rather fizzled out into a draw with only a small gathering watching on the side line. The rest were in the Worcester Park clubhouse glued to the conclusion of the Murray final. And why not?
Man of the Match Mahmud Paracha
