Finally for the first time this year the Cavaliers won the toss and decided to bat.
Following a fairly steady start the Cavaliers lost 3 quick wickets and went from 28-1 to 36-3.Perhaps too much respect was given to their opening bowlers but their plan worked.Rescuing the situation came David Peers making his debut for the club. With Clive Henderson the pair put on 84 and a reasonable total looked in sight.Clive Henderson finished on 68 and David Peers on 31.The Cavaliers continued the attack and whilst losing wickets made a total of 161 in 37.4 overs. In the closing overs a particularly good effort was made by Sanket Patel(the slayer of Shades)who hit 15 in 5 balls.
After tea Cavaliers made the best possible start with Chris Edwards removing Badgers opening batsmen first ball.Wickets then continued to fall consistently with only their number 3 offering much resistance.Badgers kept their dangerman,Mark Gordon, who had previously won matches single handed, down the order. He came in at 8,but after a brief flurry seemed little interested in the target. He was out on 29,and after his departure the only question was whether Cavaliers had enough overs to get the win. After some stubborn resistance Toby Lelean made the breakthrough and victory was secured in 33.3 overs. The pick of the Cavaliers bowlers was Pukar Patel with 5 wickets for 30 runs in 14 overs.
