The match was preceeded by a well observed 1mins silence and 30secs applause as an act of Covid remembrance.
The 7 wicket victory puts us up to 2nd= in the League, alongside Barnes (our next fixture). Old Ruts are still top by 5 points but have played 1 game more. Richmond remain unbeaten but have only played 3. So the team is doing well and has a great chance to be in the top 3, maybe better?
Fred loss the toss but the team were happy to bowl first. Ollie and Anthony took care of the openers, bowling them out cheaply. Their #4 also went early, a smartly taken Anthony catch off Alex's bowling. However, their #3 and #5 both batted really well, retiring not out on 33 and 30 respectfully. It was looking like they'd post a big target. Then the rest of the bowlers took care of the mid/lower order. Al picked up a good wicket, and our other spinner Benedict got 3 off 3.4 overs for just 8! Very impressive. Billy took a great stumping and kept well - v good after a 4hr car journey! Extras were pretty tidy at 16 but always room for improvement. The fielders were tight and looked 'on it' from the off, 7 players bowled.
So, with a target of 102 to win Oz (20, strike rate 65) and Ollie (25, strike rate 125) had a great start and set the innings up nicely. #Fred (17, strike rate 57 not out) and #4 Anthony (13, strike rate 77) put the game to bed with William holding up and end not out without needing to score. They gifted us 28 extras including 18 byes which helped the cause - we stole runs really well with some good running between the wickets.
