Roehampton 147 for 6 v Spencer 114 for 5 (24 overs) Geese - several, Ducks - none

Coach's report (Nik Ilukkumbure)
What was good: In the field some excellent bowling performances and good keeping. With the bat, some solid and well-judged performances with runs well seized (no run outs).
Room for improvement: With the bat quick loud calls to optimise run chances and better awareness of fielder positions to avoid being caught. In the field, keeping some fielders deep for big hitters to avoid 2s and 4s, sharp collects and returns back to the stumps and bowling accuracy (30 runs given away in extras).

Batting Highlights:
Hugh 28 runs
James 20
Basty 14
Elliot 13
Eddie 11
Jim 7
Mihir 5

Bowling Highlights:
Jim 5 runs for 0 wickets off 2 overs
Elliot 9-0 3
Basty 13-2 4

Ed P 8-0 1
James 8-0 1
Ben 13-0 1
William LT 15-1 1

Roehampton: 4 (x4s) - 30 (penalty runs for wides / no balls)
Spencer: 3 - 39

Match report (George Laurence)
This was one of those days when weather, ground, parent-attendance and player-enthusiasm combined to produce a memorable game.

It is fair to say that Spencer did not field as strong a side as they could have done.  But that did not trouble our boys.  Batting first, they rattled up a total approaching 150 in their allotted 24 overs, with good contributions from Hugh (28), James (20) and Basty (14) early on as well as entertaining performances from Elliot (13) and Eddie (11) in the last few overs. Good running between the wickets also put pressure on the bowling side.

The result was that when Spencer came into bat, some early wickets and a slowish initial run rate meant that Spencer were under pressure from early on.  They did not collapse, but neither did Roehampton slacken in the field. Tight bowling spells from the likes of Basty, Mihir, Will, Jim, Elliot and Eddie and aggressive fielding kept the pressure up. Ben conceded some runs in bowling his first over for Roehampton (welcome, Ben!) but with plenty of runs in the bank I felt Jim might have persevered with him a bit longer.  There was also some very tidy and pleasingly-aggressive fielding (including several near run outs and stumpings) which kept Spencer under pressure.  In the end they just could not catch Roehampton who won, convincingly and deservedly.
