Report by Philip Turner
Match day arrived with near perfect playing conditions and after crossing the route of the annual London to Brighton bike ride to get to their ground, the game started just a few minutes after the scheduled 9.30 start.
Addiscombe won the toss and decided to bowl first which they did brilliantly and as a result bowled Roehampton all out for 90 after 22.1 overs. Mention must go to two of our batsmen who stood firm and played nicely: Toby L. the captain (15) and Flynn R.S (20). Our innings lasted exactly an hour and then it was our turn to defend a low total.
Their opening pair never looked troubled and scored freely which quickly
led Addiscombe to victory in 14.5 overs. The number one batsman retired
after a quality 'knock' having scored 30 runs with a combination of singles and boundaries while his partner was not out on 27. The scorecard shows their innings as 94 for 1 after 14.5 overs.
Our man of the match goes to Flynn for his batting and also for taking a
fantastic high catch right at the end of the game.
Finally, on behalf of all the colts at Roehampton cricket club we wish those players injured at Spencer’s ground on the Saturday a swift and full recovery.
