Report by Philip Turner.
With no rain forecast for Sunday morning it was 'game on'. Roehampton won the toss and decided to bat first. The opening pair of Olly and Flynn proved very steady right up until the 15th over. Sam then came in at 3 and quickly made 30 (19 balls) then had to retire. It was then the chance for Henry B and Henry D to bat together and put on more runs which they did. Roehampton finished on a 140 for 3 which included a generous batch of wides and byes.
In reply, Wandgas kept ahead of their run chase despite losing two early wickets which Kalen took with high quality fast bowling. The match was in the balance going into the final hour, however Roehampton kept taking wickets with good and accurate bowling. Henry B broke through with a couple of wickets and Sully adding another. Coupled with good wicket keeping Wandgas eventually fell well short and where all out for 104. It must also be mentioned that Olly took two wickets with two consecutive balls and snapped the leg stump clean in half when taking the second wicket – respect! The score card also shows how few extras Roehampton gave away in this game so well done to all the bowlers, the wicket keeper and fielders too.
For the rare stump snapping moment, the man of the match must therefore go to Olly.
