1s start league season with a convincing win

The day started with both RCC teams assembling at the clubhouse for M&M’s (Max and Mods) well organised breakfast morning with a full english and granola options available. After tucking into a great full english, we all got started with the set up for the first league game of the season against Englefield Green CC.
We tossed up and the coin landed on the right side for me again and I decided to put the oppo in to bat on a “all sorts” pitch as Englefield G CC put on their Twitter.

The big boys Umer and Mo took the new ball and got to work as they both kept things tight from both ends. Umer being the luckier one with 2 wickets in his spell and a swelling around his eye after Max’s celebration taking a catch of Umers bowling and the chucking the ball in the air only to land on his eye. We all saw the funny side of it after, it was a moment which could go on “You have been framed” clips.

Ron replaced Mo from the forest end with his luminous yellow spikes, and was in a mood to dazzle the oppo batsmen and did exactly that. He finished with a 5 wicket haul and all his wickets came by bowling his slower balls which none of his victims could read. Sticky and Kish helped him by taking good catches.

Jono replaced Umer from the Telegraph end and as usual kept things tight on a rain effected day which not to forget we did come off about 3 times in both innings. Jono finished with a wicket, could have ended up with more as he got turn and bounce on that wet track.

JP then replaced Ron and finished the tail by taking 2 wickets with the help of Saq taking 2 skiers off JP’s bowling. Oppo finished on 83 all out off 33 overs.

After tea, Kish and Hazza opened batting kept the scoreboard ticking until Hazza chipped one back to their opening bowler. Saq went in at 3 and played a few straight drives but couldn’t match his last weeks performance. Sticky tried taking singles but fell to their slow bowler nicking one back to their keeper. JP came in and showed his last seasons class and finished the game with a solid 30. Kish also got a good 31 and both seeing the game home in 21 overs.
Great start to the season and good 20 points on the board, we go again next week and keep that momentum up.
