The 1s march on with 5 wins from 5

Saturday afternoon on Putney Heath was an idyllic setting for the 1s clash with Chobham. Blue skies, 27 degrees and a track that promised runs galore awaited the teams at the toss.

The Chobham skipper called correctly and and put RCC into the field. RCC were well aware of the pedigree of Chobham’s top order with Jon Allen (101 previous week) and Ian Lackey opening the batting. However this did not phase RCC’s opening pairing, who continued their early season form.

Umer struck first ball of the game with Allen feathering one to Harry at first slip. Which was followed a few balls later by the number 3 clipping one to Max at 4th slip. A double wicket maiden was completed with Chobham slipping to 0-2. Enter Mosin. Mo followed Umer’s start with a wicket with his second ball, this time Phil pouching a knick from Lackey at 2nd slip. This was quickly followed by the number 4 hitting one to Joe at cover. 0-4 and the Roes were in dreamland! 4-5, 22-6 Mo continued to claim scalps from the far end. Jono joined the party claiming a late wicket before Mo wrapped up his 5-for with a clean bowled yorker. Jasper Bowry provided some fighting spirit with some clean hitting and a strong 35* as Chobham were bowled out for 55.
Roehampton’s chase was a brisk affair, 7.5 overs to be precise, and it proceeded in usual fashion. Harry (14) and Kishan (21*) played some elegant shots before Harry smashed one to the keeper. JP (19*) continued in the same manner, bringing home a 5th consecutive league win.
