The 1s continue their perfect run in Caterham

Caterham away for the 1’s and with all the rain the day before and a cloudy days forecast with winds meant that this fixture could be one that could turn out tricky for us.

We arrived to a picturesque ground with covers on the pitch and a very nice set up only for the oppo skipper showing us muddy patches on the side of the pitch which played a bit with my mind, covers off and a very good track, not sure if we should bat or bowl at this point. Barry, our umpire gave us the go ahead and we tossed up for the game, once again losing the toss (how is it possible to lose this many tosses Dharms?! - Ed), Caterham skipper decided to put us into bat.

Harry and Kish saw off the new ball well and at one point it looked like they were going to see the old ball too with very cautious batting by both. After the drinks break, they both started pushing for singles, doubles and sometimes triples as they both kept on hitting the ball to the long boundaries of the ground and sometimes to the fielders. Kish got out first with a very hard fought 49, JP at 3 quickly made a solid 34 as Harry kept on running from crease to crease.

Mackay then joined Harry in the middle to keep the scoreboard ticking and it came to a point where Harry ran out of gas and got out on 91. Phil, Mo and Max managed to get us to 220 in the 46th over when we decided to declare.

Teas were lovely and went down nicely on a cold breezy afternoon of watching dot balls galore from our opening partnership.

As we took the field, talk was to make sure to see the job through and in RCC style, we decided to take the old ball and started with JP and Jono at each end to see if we can catch the Caterham top order by surprise and yes we did, JP got their number 1 and 3 batsman out quickly with Jono keeping things tight at the other end.

The new ball was eventually taken and Mo and Umer did what they do best, Mo took 2 wickets which exposed their middle order for Ron and Max to finish off the work for another RCC victory. Ron took 4 and Max finishing with 2 wickets bowling the oppo out for 81. Massive victory for us and another 20 points.
