Plenty of heart was shown during the second pre-season game for the Roehampton 3s vs the Putney 2s. Roehampton were sent out to field for the first innings.
Sharp winds didn’t make it the most pleasant fielding experience but Umer was unaffected and took his first wicket four balls in, going on to finish 4-52 off 10 overs.
Putney were beginning to find some rhythm, despite dropping wickets here and there due to the attacking spin of Fahad & Sadeed, and they reached 100 after 24 overs. From there the plan certainly seemed to be more aggressive.
Chances went begging all over the field for Roehampton, surely a sign of the less than ideal weather tied with it being a pre-season game and Putney took full advantage finishing on 247-8 off 49 overs.
Tough.
However, a draw was still on the cards and we certainly hadn’t given up. The 2&3 partnership of Sej & Narin put on 43 runs in 18 overs - talk about digging in!
Sej went on to finish with the top score for Roehampton with 24 runs of 50 balls, a much needed knock. Narin backed that up with 22 and Pulak ended with a useful 17 not out.
We were in a great position to see it out due to it being a timed game and finished on 118 for 6 from 40 overs.
Fight shown, game drawn. Onto next week!
