RCC 2s record big win against local rivals Putney to move clear of the relegation battle with 1 match in hand.

The tweet by Putney CC says it all.

A strong RCC 2s side overcame some resistant top order batting to run through the Putney lower to record their biggest win of the year. The understrength Putney side were never in the game once the Roes kept their cool and had methodically worked their way through the top order.

What followed was carnage with Yasir Ahmad (4 for 23) , Dharmesh "You won't like me when I'm angry" Vaghela (3 for 33) and Hemish "The Reverend" Gunasekara (3 for 10) cleaning up after the pressure applied by the trio of Arron Pratt, Zak Khan and Sean "Bumps" Farrell who combined for 19 unlucky overs of pressure for 51 runs. Putney all out for 131 off 34.4 overs!

As if that wasn't enough, the batsmen came to the party as well, knocking off the total for the loss of 1 wicket (Andy MacLeod - 36 runs) in 24.3 overs - with Marc Moderegger (41) and Sean Farrell (26) remaining not out. Sorted!

RCC - 20 points, Putney 1 point...

The 20 points for victory has puched Roehampton well and truly into safety on 159 points with Putney now needing 1 point from their remaining game to ensure they stay up as well. Best of luck to them, they're a good bunch of lads we look forward to extending the local rivalry against next year.
