Friendly loss to Nomads

Mighty Deers loss pre-season friendly
First game of the season at the Heath and what a lovely weekend it was for cricket. All the set up, sight screens, the roller working, everything in good shape.
The opposition captain and I decided to toss and I lost the toss. They decided to put us into field.
Not a great start in the field as the early bowling arms were not aligned as we had hoped for as their openers flashed a few past the slips and over point. Babar gave us our first wicket of the season with Hugh holding on to a rare catch of the day from our side.
Mohsin removed their second opening batsman which meant their number 3 and 4 turned up and made a century each and that seemed like they took the game away from us. They decided to retire after toning up and on their way to their centuries, we had dropped them 12 times between both batsman.
Their other batsman didn’t last long, however, 320 was set up in the 40 overs for us to chase.
Our new sensation David Mackay and Tom Conway opened batting and gave us a great start and the unbelievable could have happened if they had both stuck around for the duration of 40 overs.
After Toms dismissal, the middle order in Ron, Hugh and Fahad took us over 200 runs and finally a little cameo from Fuchsy, with the bat this time got us to a respectable 250.
Not a great start to the season but a few positives to take away in David looking promising and the set up becoming easier than what it used to be.
